Comment LA Lady:
I've seen a few videos of Obama speeches and I'd like to respectfully disagree with the people who call Senator Obama 'elitist'. I guess those who say that Obama talks like a professor never got to go to college. The Democratic candidate does not talk like the bored, tenured 'prof' once again cranking out his living and if the students don't understand his garble, too bad. You know what I mean, right? Well, you will by the time you're a junior in college, anyway.
I was just looking at one of Obama's speeches, and then I read a piece on the "lipstick on a pig" speech, and I got the impression of a country preacher. Not the new kind. Not the Fire and Brimstone, Creationism, and God is going to destroy Israel in the end type of preacher you find in city and country making a living off the backs of a small congregation (or a rock star living off a mega church) somewhere by warning them they'll go to Hell if they don't stick with his church (and tithe mightily!). (Look folks, if you're stuck in such a place, all you have to do is walk out the door and find a new church. God likes most of them and you won't be 'lukewarm' just because you don't believe in destroying the world to bring on Armeggedon. Trust me. It happened to me and my walk with the Lord is just as deep and good at a Presbyterian Church and I'm not nagged to go out once a month to bash poor scared young women as they walk into a local clinic.)
The old kind of country preacher, who just spoke simple truth. And he spoke it a lot. His congregation needs simple truth and common sense along with a simple worship of God not a call to take over the US and impose extreme beliefs on everyone in the nation, while invading other nations for oil or other resources.
It was this simple touch we liked about the senator from Illinois. Maybe it comes from being raised by people from Kansas.
BTW, Barack Obama has used the lipstick on a pig comment hundreds of times and from long before Ms. Palin joined the Republican ticket. It's part of his laid back style of speech.
I am worried that Americans are being railroaded by Repbulican talking points, something that TV news delivers so well, and TV is what most get their news from.
Blah blah blah.
John McCain Maverick
Sarah Palin attacked again by mean sexist Democrats
Barack Obama elitist.
Joe Biden -- not fighting for the rights of the working class. In fact, one of the greatest minds and biggest hearts in the Senate has been reduced to a cipher by the American press.
It now looks like Hurricane Ike is going to wash away that old scandal about drugs and sexual favors for oil that just erupted yesterday.
At least on TV news, possibly press too. I mean since they don't have digitals of the sex parties (or whatever the deal was) those pictures and videos from the landfall of Ike are going to flood the airwaves for a week and then it will be "What sex for oil royalties scanadals".
No no wait! If I ever want to be a part of the mainstream press and make lots of money, I have to stop smearing it. Well, since I don't want to be part of the mainstream news ....
We have a chance to change things this election, but not if we vote for Mr. "business as usual", even if he has chosen a running mate that wears a skirt.
