Straight Talk Express -- Off The Track

Now that a few of the press have been noticing that McCain's brain seems to be missing a lot of the time, and some of the more competitive of mainstream sources are actually reporting what they see instead of what the McCain camp want them to say, McCain is no longer playing the straight talk express game. So it make you wonder why they try to fake it. Well a couple weeks ago the media complained that he nevers talks to them anymore, so.. embarassing, and useless sessions like this will most likely be the norm for the rest of the campaign. I guess McCain figures, that being in the presence of what his people consider is the next POTUS should be enough.

My Thoughts: The sad part is, apparently the man had money given to the workers so that they could contribute, apparently from his car dealership, ie from himself. If he had given his campaign the money himself, I believe it would have been as legal as Diet Soda, but from what I learned reading about the Romney campaign, it donating to your own campaign makes a good news story about how you can't attract outside money. (Except in CA where you can loan your gubenatorial campaign millions and take money after you're elected from the Indian and prison guard unions you promised not to take money from before you were elected and the great mainstream press never says a word -- if you're a Republican prince of Hollywood.)

Bus Lifted by New Yorkers. Baby Saved

The report says that 30 men lifted a bus off an off duty traffic cop who had been hit and was under a city bus. The men were able to lift the vehicle enough to pull the woman, who was 6 months pregnant, out. She was rushed to the hospital where the baby was born by caesarian section before the mortally injured woman died. Okay, You guys are tough. We get it. Too bad about the woman though.

Within days the Federal government on the order of the unitary president may redefine many types of contraception including IUDs, oral contraception, and emergency contraception as abortion' according to NY Times report "Abortion Proposal Sets Condition on Aid ".

The new definition of these methods, usually known as 'birth control aids' as abortion is being made as the government demands that any medical program that receives government money must not deny employment to personnel who are against abortion.

Therefore, hospitals who receive federal funds, must abide by them. Many low income and uninsured women rely on such sources for contraception and abortion aid.

Yet, it seems to me, under the proposed new rule from the personnel in such medical facilities could refuse to give the expected aid and their employers cannot fire them or they will lose government funding.

It also opens the door to immediately banning the most effective and popular types of contraception in any like minded state should the Supreme Court decide to overturn Roe v. Wade if I'm understanding this correctly.

This shows the power of the presidency.

Both candidates should make a statement on this immediately.

Or we could just go ahead and assume that John McCain, as Bush the Third would keep that ridiculous ruling, in order to play to the Republican base.

Hillary has called the proposed changes "insulting" and will apparently be going to the mat against them.

Nice to see her fighting for something again. I do actually miss her, since she has been so quiet and demur lately, but I know she'll be out there fighting loud and strong for our Democratic nominee nearer the election, though every bit would help, even in summer.

But first things first, and I'm sure the former candidate needs some rest and is first the Congressional I've heard about standing up against the latest outrage from the Bush administration.

A Bush administration plan to define several widely used contraception methods as abortion is a "gratuitous, unnecessary insult" to women and faces tough opposition, Sen. Hillary Clinton said on Friday.

The former Democratic presidential candidate joined family planning groups to condemn the proposal that defines abortion to include contraception such as birth control pills and intrauterine devices.

It would cut off federal funds to hospitals and states where medical providers are obligated to offer legal abortion and contraception to women.

"We will not put up with this radical, ideological agenda to turn the clock back on women's rights," the New York senator told a joint news conference with New York Rep. Nita Lowey, also a Democrat, at Bellevue Hospital.

"Women would watch their contraceptive coverage disappear overnight," said Clinton.

The planned rule is aimed at countering recent state laws enacted to ensure that women can get contraception when they want or need it.

The article also noted that the ruling would protect the jobs of those who refuse to offer contraception or abortions. But if they are in a job in which that is their duty, then their personal job 'rights' directly interfere with the contraceptive rights ofpossibly thousands of others, and that includes us males too because we have a stake in whether or not our partners become pregnant or not. At least 23 years of a stake (the law requires extended support if your child wants to go to college). My wife and I are too old for such concerns. But younger men had better stand up quickly.
