The New York Times announced yesterday that one of Rogers Clemens and the Yankees most influential fans will be doing the hard hitting work of grilling him for the American public. The Times reporter points out that Wallace has spent time with Steinbrenner in the owner's private suite (at Yankee Stadium), but Wallace says that won't get in the way of tough minded investigation. Ha ha.
Okay, so that wasn't so good, so now Clemens lawyers are saying well, their boy will talk to other reporters too, on the same night.
“At this stage we have uncovered a lot of logical people who we thought Mitchell was going to talk to but never talked to him or his investigators. That’s troubling.”
Hardin would not name any of those individuals, but he said that they would have been very helpful to Mitchell about whether to publish the allegations about Roger, he said.
Wow. Do they mean that Mitchell didn't talk to the people who could tell him what kind of forces would try to destroy his career if he dared toy with Steinbrenner's very expensive asset? Or is this like Libby's lawyer's assertion that the Vice President's aide was set up to protect Karl Rove --which was never proven (never even brought up) during the trial. It was just bullshit to feed to the American public.
And they will hold their own investigation.
Hardin said the investigation of the allegations had found several individuals had not spoken with Mitchell’s investigators, but who were around Clemens during the time in which he is alleged to have been using illegal performance-enhancing drugs.
Oh yeah! The promised self-investigation.
Schwarzenegger promised he would investigate himself about groping charges once elected. It never happened.
I'm sure that these lawyers will investigate though and find whatever they want to find.
