If you are in favor of a public option in the health care reform bill, contact your Senators (you should have two, unless your live in DC where you have squat. Sorry).
But beware that reports came out this weekend that the webform email system has gotten clogged. (I can't find that report anymore, but read it earlier.)
People are filling out the forms only to find they couldn't be sent due to computer overloading. This may be a result of the crippling of the communication system the Bush administration instituted during it's tenure. But most of the Senators (all that I checked out in fact.) have local phone numbers at their home offices and addresses to which letters can be sent.
The report said that Senator's regular emails have not yet been overfilled, but that's probably because those are so hard to find.
With Wall Street set to make billions out of denying you care without the public option, we have nothing but our voices to convince our Congressionals to get the Public Option done.
We need all of use because most of our Senators would rather listen to the siren songs of the Health Insurance Industry and blame the teaparty protestors that have been taking over the town hall meetings. Look they were yellling, so, of course I had to go their way!!!! Didn't you see they were yelling!!! People were upset!!! Well, maybe you were upset and wanted a public plan, but were you yelling????
You might want to mention that you would be looking for a primary alternative or third party choice if your senator does not press for and vote for a Public Option.
If you contribute (or will) to political campaigns mention that. Most of Barack Obama's donations came from small donors, so you're nothing to sneeze at. Senators who help the public now are going to find the public helping them like they did the president in his successful run for office.
If you can't get through via the web form (though the crush may have ended after the weekend if the GOP astroturf for pennies workers aren't overflowing the system) try the phone numbers or sending snail mail of the local offices since Congress is still on recess.
Spend a little money to be heard if necessary on phone calls or stamps.
There also seem to be fax numbers. At least one of my senators have some listed.
That's another option. Hmmm. Pictures?
You might want to remind your senators that the big health care money favored Hillary Clinton in last year's primary, but the people of the United States put Obama over the top in votes and donations because he backed what would be best for them, and all the propaganda the Clinton campaign dished out couldn't overcome the truth of what would be best for us.
Remind your senator that Obama got the biggest war chest for his race because the people filled it with their little contributions, making the industry and business donations become diluted.
It can happen to their races too, but they have to stand with the people. The American electorate is more aware and active than ever before. They'd better stand with us, not the Wall Street entities that use the health insurance industry as a way to sop the life blood out of Americans.
Of course, you have your own ideas and words. That's just what I wrote in letters I sent out.
