Jack and Jill Blog picked up on a report I partially caught on NPR yesterday.
A robo call was being made to black neighborhoods telling them to fill out and return voter registration packets so they could vote. No mention was made apparently to disregard the message if they were already registered, leading some to think that something was wrong with their currect registration. More damaging to the group and possible Hillary's campaign is the fact that the North Carolina's registration period has passed for the primary which will be held on next Tuesday May 6, 2008.
The group claims non partisanship but according to an excerpt at Jack and Jill "NPR Picks Up NC Pro-Clinton Vote Suppression Efforts":
It's Women's Voices Women Vote, a 501(c)(3) charity that states its mission as registering single women to vote. The robocalls seem completely at odds with the group's usual, upbeat message. In one of the group's public service announcements, the actress Julia Louis Dreyfus strolls thru a replica of the Oval Office and fantasizes about women electing a woman president.
Hmmm
See link above for more info, including previous complaints about the group, and link to entire NPR report, which has a section on possible conflicts of interest regarding how the group uses it's money.
