That is just so unlike our founding fathers who vowed to use, in an effort to create a new nation based on increased personal freedom, "our lives, our fortunes, our sacred ..." Oh wait.
BTW, isn't it true that if there's no private investment in climate change fighting industries then the government would be forced to pay for it all. So Al Gore is saving us money, but that's not good enough for Oklahoma's Senator Inhofe.
And most of Mr. Gore's money seems to have come from other investments he undertook after leaving his career in governmen.
Excerpt NY Times report linked below:
...When he left government in early 2001, he listed assets of less than $2 million, including homes in suburban Washington and in Tennessee.
Since then, his net worth has skyrocketed, helped by timely investments in Apple and Google, profits from books and his movie, and scores of speeches for which he can be paid more than $100,000, although he often speaks at no charge.
This is an example of the right wing talking points pushers' ability to get all their arguments put out by the mainstream press. We could be working on accelerated progress, but the mainstream news lets itself get hijacked by stupid assertions from the right, and unable to think themselves out of a paper bag to resolve the issue.
See New York Times "Gore’s Dual Role: Advocate and Investor " if you haven't heard the same argument pursued by the right on various news programs, in papers, and through other mass media.Yeah, one of those which was supposed to be hosting next month's event.
