Ok I kid you. Remember when Bush firmly declared after hurricane Katrina that the US govt. would get any service station owners 'gouging at the pump" when the real problem was the wholesale price of gasoline was being gamed by Big Oil? Of course, many gas stations are owned by people who have immigrated to the US and so to have the federal government point its finger at them, and promise to "get them" for the high price of gas at the time was, of course, as brilliant a ploy as Rumsfeld sending military information for the war on Iraq with romanticized pictures of the military and Bible quotes that tending to confirm God's will that Iraq be invaded and occupied. (No wonder Bush thought God had told him to invade Iraq). (BTW, maybe brilliant isn't the word. Maybe the word(s) is (are) "crassly manipulative gambit that was too slimy for anyone else to use for the last 100+ years since Teddy Roosevelt pushed the nation into attacking Cuba because a ship's boiler had exploded in Havana Harbor".)
Well, the actual 'recount' in Iran according to a report by Al Jazeera will focus on buying of votes, or fake identity cards. I suppose that is possible, but the smooth vote count results over time show a much deeper problem.
And, like many have said, if the same people are doing the recounting as did the original count, what really is the use?
I was just surprised to see a little Bush style political deflection in this week's announcement of a 'recount'. Though now that I think of it, I don't know why.
