Has the Israeli Labor Party leader finally cracked up? Sure it would be nice to stay in government instead of being part of the wrinkled pea set in opposition, but I think the stresses have gotten to him.
And sure, as far as I know most of his speech might be fine and valid.
But this paragraph in Haaretz report "Barak: A party of 13 MKs will have no voice in the opposition " starts a vein throbbing somewhere near the brain.
Should the party join the coalition, Barak continued, "we will ensure that we don't miss diplomatic opportunities and that we don't get dragged into irreversible military adventures."
Um, okay so what do you call "Operation Cast Lead"?
Even though Israel only lost 13 people during the war, most of those through friendly fire (which wouldn't have happened if the invasion had not been prosecuted), I think that the effects of OCL are considered "irreversible" by most Gazans and other Palestinians, and that includes high levels of outrage.
And I don't know what the irreversible effects will be in the long run. If you get some blow back from OCL many people will just pretend it popped out of the ground like weeds and isn't an irreversible effect of a killing spree.
