Israel has struck back against another nation that dare to publicly disagree with it within its boundaries (if you believe that. You may believe that the Jewish nation is mostly trying to get rid of a news entity that could validate reports of inhumane actions against Palestinians.
They are blaming the fact that Qatar, the owner of the station, and the last "gulf state" to maintain trading relations with Israel finally gave up on those ties in January in the face of the slaughter in Gaza a they say they will not renew the station's
I'm sure it didn't escape their attention that AJ was the only major news source with a formal presence in Gaza. Other news agencies did have some sources in Gaza , but tended to bend over to Israel's demands. Some brave Gazans worked to get some news out of the enclave. Especially seeing the retaliation that Israel has initiated against the big news sources that have embarassed Israel, I fear for such brave journalists.
According to BBC report "Israel restrictions on al-Jazeera" the Jewish state will be allowing the work visas of some of the news entity's employees to lapse for Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Haaretz reports that the employees whose work permits lapse are all "Al Jazeera's non-Israeli employees" and, no new work visas will be issued for the station's work. (The information is considerably more damning of the Jewish nation than the watery BBC report's reporting). They considered banning the news source, but believe the High Court would have overturned the move.
Other news from report "Egypt prevents Al Jazeera journalists from entering Gaza " is that two senior AJ correspondents of the news agency have been prevented from entering Gaza by Egypt. The move is ostensibly about the journalists criticizing Egypt, but you can guess that Israel had a lot to do with this too.
Another tidbit is that the Israel has a "newly-formed national information directorate in the Prime Minister's Office". Imagine, even more propaganda from Israel, which was heavy as a lead blanket before, andwhich in Israel too, is not supposed to be financed by public funds (according to a controversy in which use of state funds was found to enable propaganda earlier during another one of their horrendous attacks on a neighbor -- in that case Lebanon).
Now they have an office right there next to the PM. It's all set up for Bibi to become eternal dictator. Well, that's what happens to stupid and/or expansionist people.
And please, lets put to rest the idea of the open Israeli news media. Haaretz is about the only major Jewish Israeli publication that will allow information that doesn't toe the Jewish supremacist line 100% of the time.
