Jerkwads are hiding serious malware in some Xmas offerings posted on the web.
Though the interest in Xmas goodies and fun might be over, you can be sure this will pop up again.
Maybe the best thing that YouTube has done is to concentrate fun into their and other more established sites that are going to get into gear if a malware appears under their auspices.
It would be a tragedy though if Internet thieves and other criminals forced everyone into the same kind of mainstream crapola we have been left with under the old media just for safety.

Hackers are shamelessly exploiting the festive season to spread malware.
A Christmas-themed jigsaw puzzle game called Christmas_Puzzle.exe doing the rounds is actually a Trojan (Ardamax-E) that uses rootkit technology to hide its presence on compromised systems.

Beyond the ability to steal your credit card, password and other datat. Some of these malware turn you machine into a zombie to use to attack others, as well.
Others malware (from personal experience) hijack all your searches to give produce garbage and shopping links that give them money in return. We have seen that some pay for click money actually is being funneled to terrorists.
