IHT Copy of NYT article: Fake Medications are Flooding the World from Asia endangering Efforts to Control Major Epidemics.  Stick with good old American companies for their overpriced offerings or else! Allegations are that China has been lax on controlling the conterfeit drugs because they are created for export. Some drugs are very accurate in packaging and appearance down to intricate holograms, and may even include reduced amounts of proper drug or others to siimulate a proper effect though without effecting a true cure.  A former Chinese "FDA" chief is under investigation for bribery, but an expert notes that the counterfeiting is too massive to stop, and uses the old heroin networks.  And, of course, this all boils down to not getting your drugs from the Internet, but sticking with the over priced US system of medications.  Of course it does.  And the article even includes some puff for our glorious lil' Marlboro boy, and a hint that maybe the UN should be forced to buy from good old American drug companies too.

LAT: Supreme Court's new tilt could put Scalia on a roll  Yes, the guy who sees things in black and white will be heavily affecting major decisions this year on the court.  The confirmation  of Samuel Alito,  throws the court to the neocons just like we said it would a year ago.  Scalia's personality has blunted his effectiveness until now, but with the "one extra person on his side" of which most realize that Alito will be able to elicit neocon decisions from the court.  Newbie judge and now Chief Justice, John Roberts is also promoting Scalia's power.  This is an important and disheartening report.  If LAT refuses to offer it up to you unregistered by our link, try using the title (in this case its exactly as shown in link above) in Google News.   As long as the article isn't too old Google News will get you into the LAT by a search on the title.  Otherwise try a search of Google Groups Usenet, but if you haven't created your own Group, banned extraneous comments and saved an article there then don't expect it to be there unadulterated.
