Mr. Kay was obviously, like so many others, given the propaganda from a trusted source that the Al Kibar reactor was the same size as Yongbyon and standing in front of cameras he doesn't start counting the rods. Obviously that would be distracting. But it shows how well the Bush administration subverts experts to its own ends, even if they are offering only minimal access. They don't need to have a pandered crew like the ex military officers involved in the recent scandal. Just have someone within the intelligence community pass out bad "intelligence'. If the IC is lying how are we going to figure it out? Some who really know their stuff in the blogging community are giving it a try, but still it's difficult without the kind of access really IC insiders have.
And apparently the Bushies have gotten the loyalists they've been wanting in at Intelligence.
But besides believing the assertions of the IC. In the run up to the Iraq war the truth would leak out. Where are our leaks?
But Mr. Kay has many interesting thing to say, especially about the picture of the NK leaders (and photoshopping).
David Kay was the first head of the team the Bush administration sent into Iraq to look for WMDs. Not much of a pushover, though his mission was obviously to help the Bush people prove their case his findings were of little help.
Arms Control Wonk had a second post and string of comments with only a couple of apparently trolls about the size of Al Kibar at
Hayden Sticks to Al Kibar Size Estimate. They are still having trouble reconciling the IC estimates of same size reactors with the pictures the Bush administration has put out.
