There's a new book out that sounds like it has some gotcha moments with mostly apologia for the Bushies at least where the 'likeable' president is concerned.
Number one apologia is that Bush was "gassed" (CBS interprets that as "tired") after an intense bike ride and that's why he was so quiet at the pre-Katrina meeting with then FEMA director Mike Brown according to Robert Draper's book . You might also want to remember that the Bush team makes up all kinds of excuses for Bush's failings and passes them to whichever venue they think will be timely and believable. With Draper's book "Dead Certain: The Presidency of George Bush" coming out about the time of another Katrina anniversary, it makes one wonder.
Even if not, Bush knew that Katrina was an incredible threat before his "bike ride", but must have given more priority to an extreme workout than a looming disaster that was later described as affecting 1/4 of the land mass of the United States.
Another of Draper's assertions that John Roberts suggested Harriet Miers be chosen for a Supreme Court slot was shot down by the Chief Justice through his spokeswoman.
It looks like the Bush administration found another gullible journalist to "play". It's nice to know
