Yeah, you thought you were safe because that contaminated peanut butter was alleged to have only gone to "institutions, food service industries and private label food companies".
Well, one of those private label food companies was Kellogg which helps those happy little elves, the Keeblers make their products (and I didn't hear that fact last week, did you)?
Now. that they've found some kind of microbes contaminating Peanut corp's butter, they are taking Kellogg peanut butter sandwhiches (and other kinds of peanut butter snacks off the grocery shelves.
According to an AP report at Yahoo News "Test: Some peanut butter at Ga. plant contaminated " the products include:
Austin and Keebler toasted peanut butter sandwich crackers, peanut butter and jelly sandwich crackers, cheese and peanut butter sandwich crackers, and peanut butter-chocolate sandwich crackers.
I wonder if the elves are going to sue the Battle Creek company for procuring crappy ingredients.
Is the little people's bakery going to go under? In this economy that could be difficult, but not impossible for the elf families to over come.
Some are already making plans.
A few suggested that they might paint themselves blue and try out for new Smurf positions. There have been reports that the blue guys from the 70s and 80s were trying for a comeback.
But seriously, I think the public deserves to know, as soon as people get sick what companies are using the suspected product, but that hasn't happened during the Bush administration. Food recalls are like bad stinkers, they think if they squeeze it out slowly no one will notice.
This problem was first brought to the FDA's attention on September 3rd of last year.
My New Years wish is for an FDA that works.
Read rest of AP report at link. I first picked it up at Google News, but switched to an identically named report at Yahoo News. There seemed to be no significant changes from the Google News copy except for additional information at the bottom. AP reports often self update. Google News often dumps AP reports after a couple days, while Yahoo News often keeps them up for a couple weeks if they stay relevant.
