Though the Bush administration has tried to down play the accusations of prisoner abuse by limiting the use of the word "torture" to the most severe physical assaults, a recent study shows that psychological torture is just as damaging to the human mind as physical torture.

The study shows that "there is no such thing as 'Torture Lite,' " said Dr. Steven Miles of the University of Minnesota's Center for Bioethics, who was not involved in the research.
