Randall Terry who advocates for pro life positions apparently does not include doctors who perfom abortions in those sentiments. His statement yesterday only decried that murdered Dr. George Tiller is that he would be unfit to meet God with his untimely death.
Excerpt PR Newswire statement by Mr. Terry:
"The arch proponents of child killing such as Planned Parenthood, the National Organization of Women, NARAL, and a host of other enemies of children are already blaming the pro-life movement for Dr. Tiller's death.
"The child killers, and their allies in the Obama administration and on Capitol Hill, will attempt to browbeat the pro-life movement into surrendering our most effective weapons in this battle: our rhetoric, our actions, and our images.
"Pro-lifers must not flinch, waver, or in any way alter our course in our epic struggle to make child killing illegal again.
Mr. Terry takes care to note that the pro-life movement is peaceful, (which is why he had formerly been arrested by federal agents for his actions outside abortion clinics as noted by pr newswire added info?).
Mr. Terry has faced Supreme Court judgments because of the actions his group has managed around family planning clinic, escaping (under the the edict of the Roberts court) legal complicity in violence at abortion clinics , but can easily be seen as morally culpable since 'non violent actions of related groups have ranged from blockage to trashing of facilities, to placing photos of doctors and patients on the internet, some with targets drawn around the images (Neil Horsely).
Randall Terry himself though is alleged by some to have basically abandoned some of his own children as they grew up and estranged himself from his first wife after divorcing her and marrying a much younger woman. (Parents lock up your teens. Who knows when he'll go shopping again.)
We know preaching hate is lucrative, but can't he just take a moment and denounce the murder? Oh wait, it has been shown that the more extreme religious leaders actually make more money for their efforts.
Somehow though it looks to me that by mixing wealth seeking and religion Mr. Terry becomes the lukewarm himself. I guess that's why some volunteers, rather than the professionals who seek to bend them to their will consider themselves the real Children of God. Now if only those volunteers could be taught to actually keep it peaceful. But how? Oh how about by a statement of condemnation of yesterday's murder.
Many sources note that other prolife leaders have denounced the murder of Dr. George Tiller.
Former pro lifer Frank Schaeffer writes in How I (and Other "Pro-Life" Leaders) Contributed to Dr. Tiller's Murder at the Huffington Post that as a former pro life pusher, feels he is responsible for the murder, as he believes are others in the camp such as his late father Francis.
