Hillary Clinton has been telling a story at campaign stops about a young woman who was pregnant and became ill enough to know she needed medical attention. She went to a local clinic who refused to see her unless she paid $100 dollar fee for every visit. The young woman eventually went to a hospital which was further away than the clinic, but which offered her treatment without up front payment, but apparently it was too late and both the baby and the mother died.
According to AP report "Clinton's tale part truth, part errors" at Yahoo! News, Senator Clinton's version (which she got from an Ohio cop) says the young lady didn't have medical insurance, and the implication is that Hillary's plan would have saved the young lady's life. But the young woman was required to pay the fees in advance because of earlier treatment when she didn't have health insurance says the AP report even though she currently had insurance.
And, in fact, Hillary's health care plan does nothing to curb the abuses of insurance companies that charge high prices, then high copays. In fact, such insurance drains the finances of the families or individuals who have to pay for it.
Hillary's minimum wage woman would have had free health insurance under her plan but there are millions of middle class American families that would be required to pay $1000 a month for a family of four. These are hard working backbone of the American economy, that would be suddenly presented with an enforced payment and who still would face the lies, high copays, and other expenses that would be required. This is the reason they can't afford health insurance now.
Try taking that backbone and putting another major expense on them, one they may not be able to afford and then look at what happens to the economy and to families.
The only truly sensible national health care program is single payer style. (Link goes to site advocating and hopefully explaining single payer health insurance found by Internet search).
