According to the witness Rove (while Plameate was being investigated sought to get Fitzegerald fired, but not because of the Washington investigation.

Rove and Republican national committeeman Robert Kjellander were among those mentioned as being part of the effort to remove U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, federal prosecutor Carrie E. Hamilton said.
Hamilton told U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve that Ata would tell jurors about conversations concerning an effort to derail the corruption investigation surrounding the Blagojevich administration by having Fitzgerald fired.
Hamilton said Ata "had conversations with Mr. Rezko about the fact that Mr. Kjellander was working with Karl Rove to have Mr. Fitzgerald removed."
Yes, we're talking about that Patrick Fitzgerald.
At the time of the purported talks, Fitzgerald already had been appointed a special prosecutor for Washington's CIA leak investigation, in which I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was later convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice.
Kjellander and Rove's attorney denied the allegations.
