Somebody watched too many John Wayne movies when he was a kid.
Apparently, to make the a decision to decide that Washington DC's handgun ban was unconstitutional Justice Antonin Scalia had to use 'historical narrative' as his guide since the second amendment clearly indicates that such guns are allowed basically for members of 'well regulated militia". The same 'historical narrative' also told Justice Scalia and the rest of the Gang of Five that DC couldn't legislate that guns at home have trigger locks, though supposedly other regulations could survive lower court rulings.
Get this:
From AP report "Supreme Court says Americans have right to guns ":
Scalia noted that the handgun is Americans' preferred weapon of self-defense in part because "it can be pointed at a burglar with one hand while the other hand dials the police."
Really, too many movies of all kinds, Mr. S.. Get out, and get some fresh air. Talk a walk. Look around you at little kids who are most vulnerable to your malicious ideas, not only on guns but on all kinds of cases.
Can a Justice be impeached for being a 'whack job'?
Of course, the Gang of Five didn't go too far over the line, and really expose themselves, indeed if they really did want to approve handguns for everyone for the city in which they spend a good part of their year. They'll leave the messy details to lower courts or until another Republican administration needs a boost in ratings.
