Okay. Now their claim that he wasn't a GOP plant is starting to ring hollow. He's the star of all their campaign events, and has even been invited by McCain to go on the trail with him, and now this.
Or maybe they are just desperate.
Excerpt Boston Herald report "GOP group says Joe the Plumber is the right guy to unclog Washington":
Joe the Plumber has gone from a media star to possible political candidate.
The Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans launched a Web site yesterday urging “Joe” - whose real name is Samuel J. Wurzelbacher - to run for Congress in 2010 against Democratic Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur.
“Washington, D.C., is broken and it needs to be fixed. Joe Wurzelbacher has a real-world perspective and the right attitude to clean up the mess on Capitol Hill,” said Trevor Lair, chairman of the alliance.
Lair launched www.joewurzelbacher2010.com and hopes to collect thousands of names online in a bid to encourage Wurzelbacher to run for office.
As it turns out, Joe the Plumber doesn’t have a plumbing license and owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes. But Derek Khanna, a University of Massachusetts at Amherst junior and executive political director of the alliance, said the Ohio man is looking out for the “everday person.”
Oh good. Republicans are going to play the clean up game again. Let me tell you they did that in my state with Schwarzenegger carrying around a broom so we supposedly stupid "Caleeforneeans" would get the message. Governor Schwarzenegger, who claimed to be too rich to take big donations has shown himself to be the crookedest of all politicians, and yet little engaged in running the state refusing by 2008 to live in the capital instead jetting in for what work he does from Los Angeles 350 miles away, and as of January 2007 shown to be completely out of the state for 1/5 of his tenure.
Instead of the sixth largest economy in the world we are now the eighth.
Every year the budget becomes a major fight. Though the late budget of 2003 was a major political point in the recall campaign against Gray Davis we have not had a budget passed on time since then. This year's budget was the latest ever and may still have to be redone, even after Scwarzenegger swept out with the line item veto all much of the help for low income and sick citizens. Who knew what those brooms would really be used for?
What we don't need now in the USA is a pipewrench in the gears. (See I can make up stupid political analogies, too GOPers.)
