After failing to find the source of a rare type of salmonella in tomatoes authorities are turning an eye to peppers and cilantro according to a GMA consumer report "Jalapenos, Cilantro Eyed as Salmonella Suspects "
Apparently their best clue is still a local chain of restaurants in Chicago, identified in this report as serving Mexican style cuisine.
The strain of salmonella this outbreak is associated with has been said to be pretty rare, and experts had begun to wonder if it had been spread from a redistribution point which might mix tomatoes from different locations.
With nearly 1000 people sick and great turmoil in the produce sector, especially around vegetable as vital as the tomato. It'll be a sad acknowledgment if they have to admit they got the source wrong.
Please, Sirs, can we have some more......INSPECTORS?
