The Above Linkblogs Might Contain "Borrowed" links.
Linkblogs do not substantially contribute traffic to my blog that I can discover. They all go offsite, and are often accessed from my blog. It's possible to access them from the RSS according to my settings. Still, even if I were to get ads clicking on a linkblog from the RSS won't drive more people to my blog than otherwise because they leave my resources. (Note to self, do more posts, less LBs with sources I find). I explain because I sometimes borrow links from people at Twitter, and often forget who put them up. (To fellow Twitterers: If you have a link to your blog, I will point it there, but Twitter, being impermanent, cannot hold your link for people to discover from there. I only 'borrow' them to get news out to as many people as I can who might not have seen the reports and videos found by the smart people I follow at Twitter or find in search rooms.RSS Add-Me
Sea Sheperd: Whalers Kidnapped Their Activists
To be honest though, the activists did climb aboard the Yushin Maru, the number two ship in the fleet, unbidden, and without permission while attempting to deliver a letter saying the whalers were breaking international and Australian law by whaling. No word on who wrote the letter. Virginia?
Yes, Virginia: the Japanese fisheries do go and kill lovely possibly sentient beings so they can make lots of money selling it to the Japanese government which in turn sells it cheap to schools because hungry school kids will eat just about anything if they don't have much of an alternative.

Facts seem to be thrown around like feathers, and dueling videos duke it out over whether the captured men are te
rrorists, and if the men are being treated well. One shows them drinking tea, but no one knows what brand. And was it something created from old bilge water? I figure the whalers themselves are treated worse than hot spring Geisha.*
The Japanese say they will release the activists when the Sea Shepard group leaves them alone, and prospect that looks pretty dim.
Australia seems to be taking a strong interest in the situation. Was the letter from them? The Sea Sheperd society is considered to be based in the US.
Should we be jealous?

* Read Yasunari Kawabata's "Snow Country to understand comment on "hot spring Geisha", preferably with a forward that explains the situation. Read the book anyway. It's one of the best I've read in a couple of years. I also recommended "Thousand Cranes" (by same author) though I need to add the caveat that I don't condone the crappy way women in Japan were treated in the past. Hopefully things have improved. But much Manga suggests otherwise. Return to * above
