Mainstream has used it's great power to tell us just how bad that is.
But an analysis by an urban planner has found pre-Katrina to be highly successful in creating a good life for a majority of its citizens.
He calls for the low debt building and lifestyles to be reinstated in the city as the only way to preserve it's culture.
It's a lesson that should be taken by the rest of America if we don't want to be slaves to the neocons and their imperialist ambitions.
