The Above Linkblogs Might Contain "Borrowed" links.
Linkblogs do not substantially contribute traffic to my blog that I can discover. They all go offsite, and are often accessed from my blog. It's possible to access them from the RSS according to my settings. Still, even if I were to get ads clicking on a linkblog from the RSS won't drive more people to my blog than otherwise because they leave my resources. (Note to self, do more posts, less LBs with sources I find). I explain because I sometimes borrow links from people at Twitter, and often forget who put them up. (To fellow Twitterers: If you have a link to your blog, I will point it there, but Twitter, being impermanent, cannot hold your link for people to discover from there. I only 'borrow' them to get news out to as many people as I can who might not have seen the reports and videos found by the smart people I follow at Twitter or find in search rooms.RSS Add-Me
The True Story of a Human Shield in Gaza
Yes, there were human shields used while Israel was attacking Gaza.
The UK Independent reports on the experiences of one of those forced to be a human shield and informer while Israel attacked Gaza.
Everytime, that Israel attacks 'militants' in Palestine they repeat the human shields claims, but the reality of human shields for every conflict has been shown to be different than their claims make them appear.
At least part of the time in every conflict the human shields were used by Israel.
This time the man was a Fatah ally, but still you can see that the coercion seems real, and the fear and danger is very real.
And though the Hamas militants knew the man was a spy and they had the weapons, (the use of which the Israeli troops denied their spy) they did not kill the man they knew was informing on them.

But I have another point to make first.
This is life. Resistance groups in WW2 killed collaborators and informers, and they helped the Allies retake the East and West European mainland (don't forget that Russia suffered and fought mightily in the endeavor too), and therefore rescued many of the parents and grandparents of those in Israel today.
And sometimes people are too tenderhearted to kill those they know can lead to their deaths.
Life is complicated, but war is truly Hell.
It's pretty duplicitous to call an understaffed group like Hamas evil because they didn't feel they were able keep every informer for trial (who knows how they might be able to signal to the IDF or someone else who could relay a message). But whether summarily killing informers is cruel, it's not all the unusual during wartime. Even our allies have done the same.
And, as the Independent report shows the Israelis used human shields, forcing civilians to do tasks that will protect their own troops.
Wasn't that one of the things that they pretend make Hamas into monsters?
