Israel and our own leaders in the US so often inform us that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. Uh huh, did anyone ask Lebanon about that? And should we ignore the fact that the Kadima controlled nation banned some Arab Israeli parties from last month's election, after which Kadima candidate Tzipi Livni had loud speaker trucks troll there areas telling the population that only their vote for her party could keep the rightists at bay.
Democracy, really? Are we talking Russian style democracy, Chinese style democracy, or Iraqi style democracy. After all they all go to the poll to vote and identify themselves using the 'd' word. If the party in power just happens to be able to block millions of votes like al Maliki did in Iraq in January, whose to say that was wrong? People voted so it's a "democracy" right?
Now according to Haaretz in Israel comes the news that the Middle East's only 'democracy' blocked participation in Palestinian Cultural Festival events in East Jerusalem Saturday March 21, 2009.
