According to NYT report "Unemployment Rate Rises to 6.1%":
So far, 605,000 jobs have disappeared since the start of the year, with employers slashing 84,000 jobs in August alone, the Labor Department reported on Friday. And even Americans who are still employed are facing tough times.
Raises have not kept up with the rising cost of living, putting more pressure on workers as high gasoline and food prices curtail their spending power.
And that's only the bad news to which the Bushies will admit.
My regular and long term readers know that the actual unemployment rate compared to the Clinton years is much higher.
Here' s a post showing why males dropping out of the workforce since the Clinton years has skewed the unemployment rate. I have a better one showing how the 1.75% of women dropping out of the work force since Clinton adds some more. Just a month ago I read a report that said now that 2.25% of women have dropped out since 2000. Therefore, it's even worse. But I will try to find the better post later and wrap everything up again, but must now go to work.
Also, a few months later a report came out that showed that the half million jobs claimed to have been created in the second or third quarter of 2006 were actually only 19,000 jobs, but the link just above does have a link to a usenet copy of a May 2004 report that showed the Bush administration had created new jobs modeling for their monthly jobs summary report that made up extra jobs. The usenet copy is at "WHAT ARE THEY SMOKING AT THE LABOR DEPT? "
