Please note that the allegations of an affair between John McCain and a lobbyist 31 years younger were passed to the New York Times by --Republicans.
They were former aides says the Times that said they had grown disenchanted with the senator.
Funny.
Then why did they give the candidate such a huge propaganda present?
In fact the whole setup smacks of a K.R. production, and may have been rigged to allow the right wing talk show hosts to save face, as they suddenly switched to supporting the obvious Republican nominee as they did (twice) for Schwarzenegger out here in California.
The New York Times report also had a lot of information on John McCain's cozy relations with lobbyists.
McCain's only answer to the questions posed by his incredibly close relationships with such representatives of big business that he would never let them buy his vote or influence.
In otherwords, John McCain thinks that John McCain is perfect. That's why John McCain thinks that John McCain doesn't have to play the game by the rules.
Well, I don't know about yours, but my Bible says that there has only been one perfect person.
Still we know right now that there are two people in the world who think they are so perfect that they don't have to listen to ordinary, non wealthy, non lobbyist type people.
One is John McCain. The other has been sleeping in the White House for most of the last 7 years.
Do we really need another president who is so perfect that he doesn't need to listen to the people?
Anyone who wants to know what the NY Times said really needs to read the original report For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk.
Of course, those who still need to read it, probably don't read this blog.
Most of the Republicans grabbing the media attention by orating about the article show ample evidence that they hadn't actually read it.
It's a sad comment on the tactics of the right wing.
I note that NPR has been focusing on a constant line of right wing response to the slight hint of sexual innuendo in the report, completely blacking out commentsabout the candidate and lobbyists.
I imagine that the same is true of TV and other forms of news. Objectivity has been completely trashed by mainstream news media, once again. That's hilarious because they so often tell us that they are superior because they are balanced (though many sources show they aren't).
