We had to go invade a nation to grab its sea of oil (Please read Republican insider's Kevin Phillips' "American Theocracy" before you repeat the Republican mantra that it wasn't about oil) and now we can't help one city actually recover from a disaster.
Every time a rich person's home burns down in a wild fire, is damaged on the coast by a Nor'Easter, or a KMart is swallowed by a Mississippi river flood enough money is found to compensate them and restore their buildings.
Why can't we get the New Orleans recovery right?
It seems like the only conversations going on are how to slice and dice the New Orleans area for the benefit of fat cats and big business and how to get those po' folk into projects.
And now the people there are reaping the results of our neglect in mental crises.
Maybe the article in the
Washington Post will help the nation to focus on N.O. again.
If we don't get this one right, then what happens if disaster comes to your neighborhood?
