People are under the impression that the stimulus plan will force onerous conditions on themselves and their loved ones, and that there is nothing they can do about it's passage, but truly nothing could be further than the truth. There are many steps you can take immediately and plans you can make going into the the future.
Though many parts of the stimulus plan provide jobs, a prime need in our nation right now, you may be worried that our society will be swallowed by heavy debt a decade or two down the line.
Some have noted that much of the stimulus debt will be incurred by building many kinds of infrastructure rather than for noble causes like blowing up people in foreign lands to acheive obscure aims and goals.
If we build a bridge today, you might note, we don't have to build a bridge in 10 years, and therefore the bridge really isn't adding to the national debt in the end. The same reasoning keeps creeping up when we think about schools, roads, electrical grid building jobs that our valiant Repbulican leaders might not have been able to cut from the Democratic plan. Building now when we need jobs -- and credit, materials, and labor is cheaper -- instead of buidling later makes that debt disappear.
That's the same reasoning we use when we personally take on debt to buy a car or home and get a useful vehicle to get to work, or a place to raise our family in a safe and stable environment.
But since we are dead set against the Democratic stimulus plan we will take action to keep it from impacting our lives and those for whom we care.
Number one action: Do not accept any stimulus plan money! This is important as receiving money aimed at the general population now will just encourage the Democrats to try to help people in the future.
I've been told that any direct monetary help to Americans will be funneled back into paychecks in small amounts (under $50) that will no longer be withheld. These kind of small amounts in the paycheck are more likely to be spent rather than saved or used to pay down debt. Such incremental payments might be hard to discern, but look for extra money not associated with a raise from your employer.
When you find such a increase in your take home pay, get rid of it. Try reducing your deductions, and to make this permanent do not go back and try to get those deductions at the end of the year. Stand firm. We can make our impact felt. Fewer deductions and that money coming at you will vanish. Step one accomplished.
Step two: Ignore new job openings. This will work best if you have lost your job due to the economic crisis. Do not apply for the new jobs opening up. Do not respond if friends or family tell you of expanding chances of employment. Stand firm and ignore want ads and the pleading of your family to take advantage of a burgeoning job market. If you already are employed, then you will have to settle with ignoring chances to move up or get a raise because of the tightening labor supply. You might have to give your employer subtle hints that you will quit if you get a raise. Be firm. Let people know you have no intention of letting the benefits of the economic recovery get to your family!
Step three may be tougher: In a year or two the nation may start to enjoy a widespread trend towards prosperity. Be sure you keep those around you in a state of panic. This is most easily achieved by continuing to listen to Rush Limbaugh and Fox News who will assure you that the better times you think you see is all illusory. You might also want to read "The Grapes of Wrath" or search up information on the Bonus Army of WWI veterans who went to Washington in 1932 asking for their due to help their families survive the Great Depression. Learn that societal breakdown really did happen in the 30s, which is what the Obama administration and those evil Democrats are trying to keep at bay with the Stimulus Plan. It will help you to mold your family life as if this were happening now. Sell the home, buy a disfunctional car from a dishonest dealer in a desperate quest to find a job based on lies printed on a paper you found tacked up on a building. Travel by car, and finally by hitchhiking to a place with too few jobs as you lose your possessions, even members of your family through death or insanity, and watch as the lives of the rest are degraded to misery.
You owe it to yourself, to your loves ones, and to the Republicans who did their best to delay and destroy the stimulus package and change it into tax cuts favoring the affluent like ones created during the Bush administration.
Stand strong and know your elected Republicans wanted so much less stimulus, and that to be given to the wealthy to trickle down as it would to people like you. If they had gotten their way, you wouldn't have to be taking these steps because most people would naturally be hurting much more without jobs, homes, and money in a society coming apart at the seams.
