Obama's stimulus package wasn't The New Deal -- The Second Coming.
We won't be seeing murals, plays, and books coming out of it through public funding so far as it goes now.
Much infrastructure might be built or repaired, which won't have to be built or repaired in the future, but the complete transformation is not happening, and yeah, it could be better.
A Washington Post article "After Stimulus Battle, Liberals Press Obama" finds 3 reasons why that might be.
Lucky for us Liberals two of them are things that others need to do, but there is one recommendation for all of us:
"We can't suddenly say 'Change has come' and just talk to one another and add more demands. We have to be out there explaining in the most elementary ways why something like universal health care is good for America," said Theda Skocpol, a Harvard University political scientist, addressing a conference of left-leaning groups in Washington last week.
We need to prepare the way for more change. We spent so much time out in the desert because we felt that all we had to do was complain (and, well, with Bush it wasn't hard to do). But now that we have a Democrat we need as we've always needed to take the initiative on explaining things to friends, family, and even the rest of the world in social media. Then we'll get more of what we want.
