Once again showing himself to be the anti- Bill Clinton, Bush dug up his text book economic talk and taught the American public which he apparently thinks is dumber than himself.
I might be able to listen to his speeches if he didn't treat me like a dullard.
Dear Mr. Bush Americans are not stupid, just poorly informed by mainstream news, especially the television verson (not counting the great job being done by The Daily Show's fake news and Bill Maher's Real Time.
Mr. Bush explained some basic premises yesterday exactly like his aides wrote them done for him that a large investment would be needed to get the economy (which isn't really in recession or dead) jump started. Yes friends, 145 billions dollars in new debt ought to do the trick.
A tax reduction rebated right now and ""taken back" next spring after a new president has been selected.
But it turns out that his idea is to give o give the most to those with the least burden compared to income by not allowing the tax deduction to be used to pay the onerous social security tax payments that you make (but may never get promised repayment after retirement if Republicans have their way), unless Bush will bend to pressure from the Democratic Congress to make the plan more reasonable by allowing the deduction to reduce payroll and self employment (social security) taxes.
Even Wall Street gott the message.
Excerpt Washington Post article at the Houston Chronicle website "Bush plan could put $800 in your pocket":
On Wall Street, however, the president did little to assuage nervous investors, who are increasingly fearful about the possibility of a recession amid a housing crunch, high energy prices and stagnant job growth.
Election year shenanigans aren't fooling that bunch.
Mainstream news is blithely ignoring the fact that massive debt created a bad recession in the early nineties and the litlle Bushster has created a debt burden that is crushing the life out of our economy, now. We must repay much of that debt soon, not when our kids are grown up as most mainstream politicians pretend is the case.
That means you and I, Taxpayer.
Now there is 140 billion dollars more added.
Thunk.
Thank you, sir.
Can I have some more?
(My comments on Bush's speech based on listening to parts on the radio.)
